partment offers undergraduate (BSSc), taught postgraduate (MSc in Geoinformation Science and MSSc in Sustainable Tourism) and research postgraduate (MPhil and PhD) programmes. Teaching and research programmes of the Department have been comprehensive with special concentrations in (a) human and urban geography, in particular spatial development of China; (b) physical geography, in particular resource management and environmental policy; and (c) geoinformation science and remote sensing. It now searches for a Chair Professor to provide academic leadership in the strategic planning and development of academic programmes.

Applicants should (i) be internationally renowned geographers with excellent academic qualifications; (ii) have extensive university teaching, curriculum design and programme development experience; (iii) have an excellent publication record of scholarly works, demonstrated ability to attract competitive grants and leadership for managing research projects; and (iv) have excellent network at regional and international levels.

Appointment will normally be made on contract basis for three years initially commencing August 2008, leading to longer-term appointment or substantiation later subject to mutual agreement. Exceptionally, substantive appointment can be offered forthwith to candidates of proven ability.

Monthly Salary and Fringe Benefits

Salary will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. The University offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package, including medical care, plus a contract-end gratuity for an appointment of two years or longer and housing benefits for eligible appointees.
